L IVE LIFE LIKE » "Lucky you."Kinkade murmured passively. When the vampire let the silence fall, he took the time to compose himself until he could smile again, taking on his cheerful demeanor out of preference. Maybe Ket could handle his own mood, but Kinkade prefered more positivity.
"Well, then, you do the talking. I don't doubt you're very intelligent; perhaps you could enlighten me. "Kinkade pitched, his tone completely sincere. He didn't honestly think Ketsueke was intelligent, but it wasn't because he wasn't, it was because Kinkade wouldn't know the difference. The vampire wasn't exactly forthcoming by any stretch. Funnily enough, Kinkade really didn't care what Ket was. Maybe it was foolish on his part, but it just didn't occur to him that he should care. In his opinion it wouldn't have changed anything. Having nothing productive to contribute, and silently hoping the other male would really take to holding a conversation, Kinkade glanced at the row of books nearest to him momentarily. Seeing nothing immediately, he looked back at Ket, still managing to smile. [/blockquote] ✘kins [/blockquote] « THE LATEST ATTRACTION ...

Hold a conversation by himself? This Kade didn't make terribly much sense, but he would take it as an opportunity for some peace and quiet. And he did take advantage of it for several minutes while he continued to move through the bookshelves to search titles without really looking for anything in particular.
After a bit, he paused, and finally said, "If you are an angel, why is it you are here? This does not seem to be a place that an angel would be at, at such an hour at least. Especially with company such as myself. I cannot say that your actions seem very rational at all."
It was more of a calm observation than anything at this point, since the peace and quiet had allowed him to clear his mind. It was easy to become frustrated and angry, but not so much to clear that away when the cause of frustration was still so close by.

L IVE LIFE LIKE » "I thought I told you; I don't sleep."Kade explained, at least to the part related to the present hour. "I didn't chose the place; you did. And angel or not, I can hold whatever company I run across. Why shouldn't it be you? " Kade's tone remained serious, his mood a bit less excitable than before. He'd taken on a stillness, too, against that bookshelf as Ketsueki moved about just beyond his sight. The more he thought about it, the more Ket's appearance here did startle him. Why was he here? He wasn't dressed in rags, by any means; the man surely didn't have to steal from a used book store. So why, then, didn't he come at a sensible hour? Was it really just antisocialness? He simply couldn't tolerate the bookkeeper? What were the odds of this place being crowded with people? With these thoughts to occupy him, he was able to keep silent again, just waiting for Ketsueki to make some of it make sense, perhaps even indirectly.[/blockquote] ✘kins [/blockquote] « THE LATEST ATTRACTION ...

An angle that didn't sleep? Well, perhaps it made sense in the fact that if they were supposed to be a guardian angel, it'd be pretty terrible if they fell asleep on duty--and technically it would be a 24/7 duty. Of course, Ketsueki also didn't believe in such a duty only because he felt all creatures ought to learn to protect themselves. It was how nature weeded out the weak and kept the population down after all. Granted he didn't mind people helping those weaker than them... but constant surveillance for an overly-extended period of time was just obnoxious.
Coming within sight of the angel, having finally found one more book to make a total of two that were of interest, he said "You are a creature of the light, and I am a creature of the dark. They do not typically mingle." It was vague, but he was curious to see if this man would be able to figure it out. It was, in a sense, his own way of testing the intelligence of another. Egotistical and haughty as it was, when you lived for so long and had a snobbish upbringing as a human, you picked activities that were unknowingly cruel for the victims. At the very least though, he was speaking civily, and almost friendly, though he still seemed to keep an invisible wall between them.

L IVE LIFE LIKE » Creature of the dark. Why did they always say that with so much pride? Either the guy was a werewolf and he meant it literally (though that was unlikely because, in his experience, werewolves preferred to be in wolf form at night, full moon or otherwise, and werewolves tended not to be quite so proud or solitary), the guy was some demon who thrived on darkness as a hint toward his origins, or, of course, he could be a traditional night dweller, a vampire. Beyond those three options there were few he could think of that would openly consider themselves a creature of the darkness. Either way, there was no question there; Kinkade wasn't going to make himself look foolish by bursting out with his assessment.
"Says you. There's no rule in my guide book that states that. But if you're answering to a higher authority, I completely understand."Kinkade shrugged. Despite the acidic message, he was being completely polite and genuine; if there really was some reason Ketsueki didn't want to know him that was motivated by an external force, he wouldn't hold it against him.
"So you found books worthy of your time? "Kinkade prompted, gesturing toward the books in Ket's hand. He hadn't really taken that much interest before, but now he was sort of curious. Would they be dark novels, or could they possibly have an optimistic message within them? It would get pretty boring of Ketsueki contented himself with only negative emotions; surely there had to be some form of sunshine to his life, since he couldn't literally depend upon the sun.[/blockquote] ✘kins [/blockquote] « THE LATEST ATTRACTION ...

He gave Kade a side-long glance, the little bit of light from the street and the moon catching on the red of his irises as he did so. Had the man still not figured it out completely? Or perhaps... perhaps he just wasn't completely sure. That was a possibility. Ketsueki had to remind himself that there were other creatures that stalked the night, and not all would remember that vampires were the original users of creatures of the dark. It had melted into the language of other beasts of hundreds of years, thus blurring the true meaning behind it forever.
"Most angels do not care for vampires. This usually stems from the fact that we feed off the lives of the humans you protect. Or are you telling me that in the past hundred years this has changed? Or is it that you simply do not care?" he said, being a bit more forward with the true answer this time.
"I did find a couple books of interest, though. It's difficult to find books worth reading these days. So many authors who simply do not have the elegant skills required to be considered a true author any longer, who butcher the world of stories." he responded in answer to the other question. His elaboration was probably not what Kade was hoping for, however it was what was on his mind in the present situation.
